Under ICBC Enhanced Care, eligible people injured in a crash have access to pre-approved healthcare treatments during the first 12 weeks following the accident.
Registered Massage Therapy is one of the healthcare services included.
For RMT care, ICBC currently provides:
12 pre-approved Registered Massage Therapy treatments
Within the first 12 weeks following the crash
No physician or nurse practitioner referral required to begin the pre-approved treatments
Your eligibility and remaining treatment availability are determined by ICBC and your individual claim.
Before booking: Have your ICBC claim number and Personal Health Number ready so we can obtain the information needed to process eligible treatment through ICBC.

ICBC Coverage & Your Appointment Fee
ICBC establishes the amount it pays healthcare providers for eligible treatments.
For treatments provided between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027, ICBC currently covers $107 for a standard Registered Massage Therapy treatment, with a minimum of 45 minutes of one-on-one treatment.
MICRO's appointment fee may be different from the amount funded by ICBC.
When there is a difference between the clinic's appointment fee and the amount ICBC pays, the remaining user fee is the patient's responsibility.
Coverage, eligibility, treatment availability, and payment are determined by ICBC and your individual claim.
User fees reflect the difference between the applicable MICRO appointment fee and the amount funded by ICBC and are subject to change. ICBC funding and eligibility are determined by ICBC.

ICBC Direct Billing at MICRO
For eligible appointments with participating Registered Massage Therapists, MICRO can submit the applicable treatment fee directly to ICBC.
This means you generally do not need to pay the ICBC-funded portion of an eligible appointment upfront.
You remain responsible for:
Any applicable user fee
Amounts not funded or approved by ICBC
Appointments that are no longer eligible for ICBC funding
Charges resulting from clinic cancellation or no-show policies, when applicable
Direct billing is provided as a courtesy and does not guarantee payment or coverage.
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR FIRST ICBC APPOINTMENT

Your First ICBC Massage Therapy Appointment
Your first appointment begins with a conversation about your accident, the physical concerns you are experiencing, relevant health information, and what has changed for you since the crash.
Your RMT will complete an assessment appropriate to Registered Massage Therapy and discuss whether treatment is appropriate for your individual presentation.
Your treatment is not determined simply because you have an ICBC claim.
The areas treated, pressure, techniques, positioning, and treatment approach are based on your assessment, comfort, preferences, clinical considerations, and ongoing consent.
CLINICAL CARE VS COVERAGE

Your ICBC Claim Does Not Define Your Treatment
ICBC determines whether treatment is eligible for funding. Your Registered Massage Therapist determines what care is clinically appropriate within RMT scope.
These are two different considerations.
Your RMT assesses the physical concerns relevant to massage therapy and adapts care to your current presentation. Treatment can change as your physical concerns, activity, comfort, and needs change.
Having an approved ICBC treatment does not mean a particular technique, pressure, or treatment approach is automatically appropriate.
Your care remains individualized to you.
AFTER 12 WEEKS

What Happens if You Need Care Beyond 12 Weeks?
The initial pre-approved treatment period does not necessarily mean all ICBC-funded care ends after 12 weeks.
If additional Registered Massage Therapy is clinically recommended, your healthcare provider may submit a Treatment Plan to ICBC requesting consideration for additional treatment.
ICBC reviews the information provided and makes the funding decision.
Additional treatment is not automatically approved, and approval should be confirmed before relying on ICBC to fund appointments outside your existing authorization.
CALLOUT
While an extension is pending: Unless additional ICBC funding has already been approved, you are responsible for the cost of your appointment. If ICBC later approves eligible treatment, reimbursement will depend on the terms of that approval.
